Spider Payment Equals Real Dough

Posted by Carla | Internet, Random | Thursday 20 November 2008 9:35 pm

I recently posted a blog entry about a man who sent a drawing of a spider as payment. Well, one of my readers commented on that entry and mentioned that he sold that drawing on eBay for $10,000.00!

How ridiculous is that?!

Don’t you wish you could stumble upon a wonderful internet meme and then turn around and make $10k with it? I sure do! Who knows? Maybe it’ll happen!

Need A Good Laugh?

Posted by Carla | Internet, Random | Monday 17 November 2008 5:12 pm

Someone at work sparked this to me and I then passed it around the office because, not only is it hilarious, but it’s shear genius! It’s long, but very much worth the read!

Told you it was hilarious! Came from Geekologie.com

To Whom It May Concern

Posted by Carla | Blog | Sunday 16 November 2008 11:14 am

Dear Blog Comment Advertising Spammers,

I, nor my blog readers, wish to see your comments about viagra, prescription medications, etc. Your ridiculous comments that wait approval in my Wordpress account with silly names, indistinguishable text and odd looking URLs that lead me to believe that if I was to click on them I might get a virus, irritate me more than you know.

I’m not sure how you find my website and what could lead you to believe that I would approve such a ridiculous comment is beyond me.

The irony would be that if you spammed this particular blog entry with another ad for free sex or health insurance.

Stop spamming my website with your nonsense, no one here will ever see it.

Sincerely,
Carla

Vanilla-Milkshake goes Mobile

Posted by Carla | BlackBerry | Friday 14 November 2008 5:26 pm

Why not go a little mobile? Why not target some BlackBerry users? There isn’t a reason why not, that’s why! In case you haven’t heard through Twitter, I have created a BlackBerry Applications page on my site that is both viewable and accessible through my site and through the browser on your BlackBerry!

In no way have I created any of the apps, at least, not yet! I am simply giving you a simple webpage to bookmark on your phone to download new and popular applications for your ‘Berry! I am just re-distributing the links in the easiest way I know how!

So grab your BlackBerry, bring up your browser, press the menu button, click ‘go to’ and type in http://www.vanilla-milkshake.com/blackberryapplications.php and be sure to bookmark it to avoid having to type it in later! ;-)

Also, if you know of an App that you think should be on there, PLEASE let me know and I will add it as soon as possible!

It’s about time there’s a BlackBerry MySpace App

Posted by Carla | BlackBerry, myspace | Thursday 13 November 2008 2:47 pm

I have been waiting soooo long for there to be a MySpace Application for my BlackBerry whether it was third party or not.

This morning, while I was sleeping after having a rough night of being sick, I received an email from my friend Hannah on my BlackBerry with a link to download the OTA MySpace Application. Since I read it, kind of in my sleep, I thought it was a dream. Then when I got up for real, I remembered it and re-read my email and it was true! Yay! A MySpace App for my BB!

It is set up very much like the Facebook Application.

This is a screenshot from my ‘Berry of what someone’s profile would look like through the MySpace Application. It’s really simple and to the point. Easy to navigate.

Viewing someone’s photos is cake with being able to still view photos as an album rather than all of the pictures crammed onto one page.

The Home Screen allows you to update your status and mood and shows the most recent status’ and moods of your friends. With the icons across the top you can view your inbox, add a friend, view your comments, view your friends list and upload a picture.

Of all the great things the App provides, I think being able to FINALLY upload mobile photos is my favorite! I have been waiting for this specific feature for an extremely long time!

Last but not least, you can take those annoying and pointless bulletins your friends post way too often everywhere with you! Oh joy!

The only con I have come across is that you don’t receive any notifications when you get new messages, friend requests, comment, etc. Maybe they will implement something like that later on! I sure hope so!

You can go to the MySpace BlackBerry Application page here. To have an OTA link sent to your BlackBerry email so that you can download it, go here. You will need to type in your name and BlackBerry email address and then you will receive an email with a link to download the App directly to your ‘Berry!

Enjoy!

1 Year of Motherhood Under My Belt

Posted by Carla | Sean, Videos | Wednesday 12 November 2008 2:19 pm

Our son, Sean, turned 1 on November 10 of this year. I have to be cliche and say that I can’t believe he’s already a year old! I must say, the first year as been amazing and I look forward to the year before he turns two.

Sean shares a birthday with the US Marine Corps, Windows, Brittany Murphy and Sinbad to name a few. Ironically, he was born on a Marine Corps base and I am writing this blog entry on a PC running Windows XP and I had a dream with Sinbad in it the other night! So strange! I guess Brittany Murphy still isn’t important.

We threw a birthday party for Sean at my sister’s house and it turned out pretty well. We had great decorations, a wonderful cake, tasty appetizers and good company. At some point, I think Sean had an anxiety attack due to all the people and the rushing around. Poor kid! I took him upstairs for a bit to calm him down and give him the rest of his lunchtime bottle. He calmed down well and we were able to get the party rolling again.

Can’t escape typos in Azeroth!

Posted by Carla | Games | Tuesday 11 November 2008 2:36 pm

Apparently in the World of Warcraft, when you coat a weapon with poison and poison a target, they have to pay you $40 and it can even stack up to five times equalling out to $200.

I’m used to typos in everyday life — newspapers, co-workers doing it, etc. But in my digital online gaming life, this is a first, with the exception of n00bs and toolbags spamming the general chats and trade channel. I will definitely be checking back tonight to see if that is still there! I had to share!

MySpace Profile 2.0

Posted by Carla | myspace | Tuesday 11 November 2008 12:35 pm

MySpace is hot on Facebook’s trail. As we’re all familiar, MySpace likes to mimic Facebook in more ways than one. I think the worst thing MySpace could have stolen from Facebook is applications. Facebook does it flawlessly but MySpace makes you afraid to read your bulletins or comments!

I’ll be honest, Facebook seems to be much better run than MySpace but I tend to use MySpace much more.

With the new 2.0 profile you can customize where your “modules” are, who can see what modules and you can even customize it as if you were using an html generator.

I’ve played around with it and have noticed that it makes some of my existing content quite large and creepy looking. All in all, I don’t care too much for it, but I said the same thing about the new Facebook and now I like it a lot.

However, I really do like that the 2.0 profile allows you to choose who can see what, which might prompt me to make my page public again if I can make my page look the way I like with the newfangled layouts and “modules”.

How do you like the new 2.0 profile?! Please let me know! Maybe you can convince me to use it!

Yesterday sucked and not because it was election day.

Posted by Carla | Daily Life | Wednesday 5 November 2008 3:19 pm

It didn’t seem like anything was going right yesterday. As I woke up, everything was normal. I got dressed and headed to work and was going to be about 30 minutes early which was great because it gives me time to get situated and have a little breakfast.

I was on my way and traffic for once wasn’t as bad as normal, probably because it was election day and everyone was elsewhere voting which was working out great for me until it happened.

About 2 miles from the exit on the highway I use to go to work a semi truck in front of me (there was a car between me and the truck) had a tire blow off and shred all over the highway. The car in front of me was swerving all over to avoid it and they seemed to, but because they were able to avoid it, the shredded tire was heading in my direction. That’s when I let out a huge, “FUCK!” and swerve to my left to miss it, thus hitting another car and letting out a loud, “SHIT!”. The truck never stopped or even thought to slow down.

We pulled over and given what happened the other driver was pretty cool about it and I seemed calm. I was mainly in shock and pissed off more than anything. My brand new card was no longer as pretty was it was just a few minutes earlier.

The worst part of it all, besides damaging my baby was actually seeing a part of my fog light bounce up in front of my windshield and be lost forever. It seemed to go in slow motion.

The police came, asked some questions like how fast we were going and what lanes we were in. The cop was pretty cool, so cool in fact that he didn’t give me a ticket for hitting the other driver. I mean, my car being involved in an accident and having to pay a $500.00 deductible to get it fixed was enough of a punishment to me.

After I had calmed down it became clear to me, even though I didn’t realize it at the time, that I swerved left because I knew there were a lot more cars to my right that I would hit rather than just the one to my left. I also realized that I swerved the way I did because the tire was coming at my damn windshield. I’m not sure about you, but something that big and heavy flying right at my face is something I’m not too keen on, especially if it could cost me my life in doing so.

As angry as I am about my car, I am extremely happy that it wasn’t more serious and given what happened my car isn’t as damaged as it probably should have been in that scenario. But, the other woman’s car was quite bad.

So that’s how my yesterday started out. How was your day!? :-\

Behold! Dents, scrapes, missing paint and missing pieces from my fog light. [Can't really tell much from the picture]

All Things Twitter

Posted by Carla | Twitter | Saturday 1 November 2008 12:57 pm

This blog is about Twitter and all the great things that come with it. If you haven’t noticed by now, Twitter has about a bazillion add on’s and features both mobile and for your computers and then some.

TwitterLine is exactly what it implies. It’s a line of Twitter. To be more specific, it’s a FireFox add on that is embedded into your browser that cycles through the most recent tweets. You can even update your status from the bar and even include the link of the site you’re currently viewing into your tweet! How sweet is that tweet? That’s a pretty sweet tweet if I might say so myself.

Here are a few screenshots!

A feature I personally enjoy is that you can “minimize” the bar so it takes up less room. I hate things that clutter my workspace!

You can download TwitterLine here.

Next, we have my late but great Twitter Halloween icons!

I am sure that as time goes on, there will be more created, definitely some for Christmas I bet! Once I catch sight of them I’ll let you in on the icon-ness of the Twitter!

Here’s how you make them:

These were created and found here.

Happy Twittering!
