Sean’s 100% Handmade Chair
A few months back, I discovered a blog, Knock Off Wood, while stumbling on StumbleUpon and fell in love. In short, it’s a blog that belongs to this housewife in Alaska that loves designer furniture, but not designer prices, much like myself. So she finds pieces of furniture she likes and makes them herself.
I’m all about saving money and still getting what I want. And, my dad loves to build things out of wood and has everything needed to do it. I printed out some of the plans of things I’d like for him to make for me and his first project was this Land of Nod inspired chair with storage underneath it, with mild changes/alterations. It turned out great! I absolutely love it! I painted it with some of the remaining paint from painting Sean’s bedroom. I plan to have him make two more — one that I will paint lime green and another I will paint black and put “time out” with a clock painted on it on the seat for future time out sessions (not that he’s ever done anything that would require it, but he is getting older, so it’s inevitable).
What do you think? Did my awesome father do a good job? I keep telling him that he should build things and sell them because he does such great work, but he doesn’t think that he does. Do you think he could get some decent money for selling things like this that he builds?
By the way, this isn’t my messy garage! It’s my dad’s “workshop”. lol
These are the actual chairs from Land of Nod.
