I just got finished watching the season premier of Jon & Kate + 8 which, finally after all the episodes, seems to be the most real one yet. If you’re unaware of the latest from the gossip mill — Jon has been accused of cheating on Kate with a 23 year old teacher and Kate being accused of cheating on Jon with her bodyguard and, obviously, some talk of divorce.

Before these rumors had surfaced, I had been a long time fan and supporter of Jon, Kate and the kids but when I saw the ‘Going Green’ episode that aired last month (I think), I was completely appalled by Kate’s ungrateful, snobby and nasty attitude and behavior. Prior to that, I always knew she was somewhat of a bitch, but liked her anyways because, let’s face it, being the mother of 1 takes a lot of time, effort and coordination, but a mother of 8 is 8 times that much hectic. I never condoned the way she treated Jon, but I could understand it to some degree, but when I saw her being completely rude to the nice gentleman that was converting their newly purchased home to be more eco-friendly, I lost any and all respect or remorse for her.

While that episode was airing, I curiously logged on to Facebook and to the J&K+8 fan page and group to see what the buzz was. I was surprised to find out that nearly everyone in the Facebook world was commenting on their pages and had mostly the same thoughts and opinions I had. Disgust was sweeping the internet in minimal time. I was in shock to see how someones poor attitude had shut out so many people. (Yes, I am still referring to Kate Gosselin)

Tonight’s episode began with Jon and Kate doing their interviews separately which set the mood for the rest of the episode and I’m willing to bet, the rest of the season. They addressed the rumors, Kate more than Jon. They kept saying that they “didn’t know”, but the only thing they seemed to agree on was that they would be there for the kids. Not once did they say anything about being there for the other, just the kids. The bottom line is this, they’re going to split up and, obviously, that’s a hard thing to do even with 1 kid but they have 8 to think about. They seem to be completely disconnected from each other. Hypothetically, if Jon had cheated on Kate, I think that was what broke the ice for him to finally be able to stand up for himself and take back his own life. I can’t really say that I feel bad for Kate in that scenario or that I condone Jon’s actions, but I am glad (if it is true) that he was able to finally break away and try to be happy.

I’ve seen every episode of J&K+8 and as they’ve gone on, I’ve noticed more and more how snobby and materialistic Kate has gotten. If you remember what she looked like when she first had the kids and see what she looks like now, her physical appearance hasn’t been the only thing that’s changed. She even admitted in the newest episode that when she wrote the first books and was in the spotlight that she didn’t really care about the fans of her show, but miraculously she cares about them now… now that they are getting a lot of negative attention and her “perfect” life is falling apart. It seems to me like she is reaching and trying to hang on to whoever she can because possibly she’s driven everyone else away? I don’t know.

Again, this is all hypothetical and rumors and just my opinions based on the things I’ve viewed and read. We all know that the media can make things seem the way they want us to see them. But, I am an adult more than capable of having and making my own opinions.

All in all, I think that Kate Gosselin is an artificial representation of the loving, caring, smart and put-together being that tries to market herself as. Because of that and because I consider her like any other human being on the planet, nothing more and nothing less, I am no longer supportive of her and forgiving, just as I wouldn’t be with people I know personally.
