RIM To Launch BlackBerry Social Network
When you didn’t think RIM could create another thing for us to be addicted to, they pull out all the stops and bring us yet another social networking site to keep up with. For a long time now, people have been throwing the idea around, hoping that RIM would catch wind of it and do something with it. Apparently they did catch wind of it and have done something with it.
The social networking site is called ‘My BlackBerry‘ and is currently in a private beta testing phase. If you’re looking for an invitation to be able to create an account, don’t hold your breath because as I’ve come to find out, it is pretty hard to actually find an invite.
The site focuses around sharing tips, tricks, opinions and ideas among millions of other BlackBerry users. The interface reminds me a lot of Facebooks, which is good, in my opinion. Just like any other social networking site, you can have discussion forums, upload and share photos, create and customize your own profile, etc. all with the focus around, obviously, BlackBerries. With the many, many social networking sites out there that uses have recently been complaining about having to keep up with, do you think you will use a brand new one? Do you think that since it focuses around your handheld addiction, you might be more inclined to keep up with it? Let me know!
