The price of gas is…
Un-friggin-believable! I know this isn’t a very original blog topic but as of late I have been getting more stressed about how ridiculously high these prices have gotten. I remember the days when filling up your tank would cost about $12.00 and you wouldn’t even have to think about the cost. You did it and went on your merry way and it never occurred to you that you had even spent any money.
These days, however, filling up your tank has become an unfortunate event that many people loath and it seems like the price you pay every time you fill up is equivalent to a month’s mortgage or something. Filling your tank has become another monthly, or in most cases, twice a week bill that never seems to get smaller.
Currently, the most expensive (regular) gas in my area is $3.75 and the cheapest I’ve seen is $3.69. I often go to GasPriceWatch to see where the closest, cheapest gas is and if it requires driving an additional mile or so, I will do it, even though my husband thinks that’s a dumb idea. Whatever. I am just trying to save some moola.
Also, if you’re in an area with a Kroger and you have a Kroger plus card and they have a gas station, if you have spent $100.00 on your card you can get .10 off per gallon of gas when you fill up at their station. Also, if your local Sam’s Club has a gas station you can swipe your Sam’s card and get .05 off, which is what I typically do since I don’t really shop at Kroger and haven’t spent $100.00 there to get .10 off.
So, as a project, starting in September, I think I can going to document my gas mileage and my filling up my tank with my video camera and edit a nice little video for you all to enjoy including a possible rant from myself. I am interested in how much money I put towards gas a month. I’m not sure if I really want to know, though.
I would also like to know how much gas prices are where you live. Comment and let me know!
