Wanna See My Chi?

Posted by Carla | Health & Beauty | Wednesday 31 December 2008 3:21 pm

I haven’t blogged about anything I got for Christmas yet, but I can’t keep it in about my brand new Chi hair straightener! Every girl wants one and most girls should have one! My husband knows what I like, that’s for sure.

Chances are, if you’ve ever gone to a salon and they’ve used a flat iron on your hair, they were using a Chi. For a while, I thought it was whatever product that they’d put in my hair but then I noticed that every stylist I’ve ever gone to was using this same iron. I had to have one! Thankfully, my wonderful husband remembered this and bought me one for Christmas, along with other wonderful things, but I have to say, this is my favorite.

One of the biggest differences about this iron as opposed to others is the ceramic over metal straightening tips. Most other irons have just regular metal or aluminum which can cause your hair to burn, fray, etc. The ceramic iron has a much better chance of smoothing out the hair and keeping it healthy.

They retail for approximately $100.00 and you can find them on their website or in almost any salon. I highly recommend buying one if you’re the least bit serious about your hair and your appearance.

It will go really well with my new to come 2009 look including dark hair and possibly a new style!

Virtual Makeover the Taaz Way

Posted by Carla | Health & Beauty, Internet | Sunday 28 December 2008 10:13 am

As of late, I’ve really been contemplating dying my hair a darker color, much like the color above but I have been nervous and afraid if I did, then I wouldn’t like it. Thanks to Taaz.com I was able to upload my photo and do a virtual makeover to simulate what I could look like with the hair color I want and I must say, I actually like it and think it is a good chance that in the future this could be a new look for me!

Taaz is a great way for people with little or no Photoshop skills to try on new makeup and hairstyles without the hassle of actually doing it. Or, you could be like me and see what you’d look like if you dressed up as Tammy Faye Baker for Halloween one year…

Even if you’re not serious about makeup and the like, as you can see, it could be a great time passer!

If any of you try this out, please comment and let me see your makeovers!

The Diet Plan

Posted by Carla | Health & Beauty | Thursday 14 August 2008 2:43 pm

I got my diet in order from Zack for the huge weightloss challenge. Since I am kind of picky about what I eat, he has put me on a strict “diet” making me eat every three hours with nothing to eat or drink in between. This doesn’t seem too hard. I pretty much eat small meals often anyways, so it shouldn’t be much of a change. I just have to pay attention to times and stick to it, much like what I do for my son.

Today I had a Ceasar salad from Macaroni Grill with no dressing for lunch. They have the best salads ever! I love them. And the best part is that it only cost $1.79 and I got a free thing of bread, which will be my next “meal” at 5:00pm before I head home from work. Perfection! This works out great because three hours after 5:00 is when Sean goes to bed, which makes it easier for me to make another meal, eat it and then head to bed a little later.

So far, I am really liking this. I think that just before my last meal or just before bed I will head to the gym and do some exercise. I am going to bust my ass trying to win this contest! Literally, I hope!

The Initial Weigh In

Posted by Carla | Health & Beauty | Monday 11 August 2008 3:10 pm

Today was the initial weigh in for our office wide weight loss contest. So far, we’ve had 21 participants. That’s a lot more than I thought there would be, especially since it’s a fairly small company.

I found myself trying to justify to myself and everyone that would know my weight that I had a baby! Yes, I’ve gained weight. It’s no surprise and no secret. I was much thinner before being pregnant.

Shockingly, I actually weighed in at less than the last time I was at the doctor a little over a month ago. I’ve done absolutely nothing to lose weight either. For me, I think it’s more of a psychological thing. When I was in high school and bought a gorgeous $300.00 prom dress I lost enough weight to be able to wear it comfortably even though I already fit in it. I lost the weight without even trying, but knowing that I wanted to be comfortable helped me lose the weight for some reason.

Anywho, I had a diet and fitness plan in the works to be drawn up specifically for me. I hope I can stick to it. It gets hard when people come into work or go on lunch and have such delicious smelling food.

Words of encouragement please!

Being a loser

Posted by Carla | Health & Beauty, Work | Saturday 9 August 2008 2:10 pm

I hope to be a huge loser. Not in the way you’re thinking either. I hope to lose some weight. Well, a lot of weight, I should say. Having a baby can do some crazy things to your body. Working in an office can also do crazy things to your body. Sitting at a desk for a large part of the day and with the exceptionally cheap prices of drinks and snacks in the vending machine can be a bad thing — drinks are .25 and snacks are .50. You can’t beat that!

So, after checking my email the other day at work, I was made aware of an office wide contest for the “biggest loser”. I guess everyone is going to get together and try to lose weight. Sounds kind of silly, but why not? I mean, I need some good motivation and the possibility of winning prizes for losing weight, looking better, feeling better and living a healthier lifestyle is definitely worth it and worth trying to win a prize for.

I’ve been needing some type of motivation to lose weight since Sean’s been born and I even thought I needed my husband to help me with that motivation, but thinking about it right now, I think he might be the worst person to help motivate me because I am just far too comfortable with him. Strangely enough, we have a lot of gym rats and health gurus at my work. We have a fighter that owns a gym, a few personal trainers and a bunch of health freaks. I am quite surprised, but no so surprised because they’re all men. We women are lazy!

I can’t remember the exact details, but there is a weigh in coming up for this and I plan to go forth with it and try to lose as much weight as possible. I will keep you updated via my blog, so any words of encouragement would be really great!

Good luck to me!
