Virtual Makeover the Taaz Way

Posted by Carla | Health & Beauty, Internet | Sunday 28 December 2008 10:13 am

As of late, I’ve really been contemplating dying my hair a darker color, much like the color above but I have been nervous and afraid if I did, then I wouldn’t like it. Thanks to Taaz.com I was able to upload my photo and do a virtual makeover to simulate what I could look like with the hair color I want and I must say, I actually like it and think it is a good chance that in the future this could be a new look for me!

Taaz is a great way for people with little or no Photoshop skills to try on new makeup and hairstyles without the hassle of actually doing it. Or, you could be like me and see what you’d look like if you dressed up as Tammy Faye Baker for Halloween one year…

Even if you’re not serious about makeup and the like, as you can see, it could be a great time passer!

If any of you try this out, please comment and let me see your makeovers!

Beware of Internet Explorer

Posted by Carla | Internet | Tuesday 16 December 2008 10:49 am

I absolutely loath Internet Explorer. I am a hardcore Firefox user and urge everyone I know to use Firefox over Internet Explorer any day. It is absolute rubbish software and makes web design a pain in the ass because if you’re building a site, the site will look great in Firefox, Opera, Safari, etc. but once you get to IE then it looks like crap.

Now, more than ever, I have a new reason to never use Internet Explorer again and you shouldn’t either.

According to this news article current versions of IE have a major security flaw in which your computer could be hijacked and very vulnerable.

I recently updated my IE to 8 Beta. I never use IE but some websites require it and sometimes I used it for web design. Big mistake! I never should have. Since I have, I’ve gotten crazy weird trojans, malware, etc. Luckily, I have my computer on lockdown now but beware of IE.

Download Firefox NOW!

14 Days Until Christmas!

I knew it was going to happen sometime. My free ride on Flickr is almost over. While logging in today, I got this message politely explaining that I am almost at my free loading limit and an ultimatum saying that I should upgrade to their pro account or only my most recent 200 photos will be visible.

Perhaps I should do it. I mean, Flickr has been very kind to me and let me upload 200 photos for free. Maybe it’s time to give back. Unfortunately, that time isn’t now so I think I’ll have to think about this and get back to them.

Sorry Flickr, it’s the Holidays, my money must go elsewhere for the time being.

27 Days Until Christmas!

I was not fortunate enough to see this when it aired but thanks for my Feedreader, Wil Wheaton posted this on his blog to share with anyone who had missed it… like myself.

No need to give details, just watch it!

Spider Payment Equals Real Dough

Posted by Carla | Internet, Random | Thursday 20 November 2008 9:35 pm

I recently posted a blog entry about a man who sent a drawing of a spider as payment. Well, one of my readers commented on that entry and mentioned that he sold that drawing on eBay for $10,000.00!

How ridiculous is that?!

Don’t you wish you could stumble upon a wonderful internet meme and then turn around and make $10k with it? I sure do! Who knows? Maybe it’ll happen!

Need A Good Laugh?

Someone at work sparked this to me and I then passed it around the office because, not only is it hilarious, but it’s shear genius! It’s long, but very much worth the read!

Told you it was hilarious! Came from Geekologie.com

Social Networking via Carla

It isn’t a secret that I love my website and that I am always trying to find new things to add to it to make it interesting. Well, I found something else. Thanks to Ning.com I have created a social networking site to go with my personal website, blog and photo gallery.

I am quite honestly surprised in how customizable it is and how well it works. So go and check it out and sign up! Who knows, it could be the next MySpace…. God I hope not!
