Sean’s First Haircut

Posted by Carla | Sean, Videos | Monday 5 January 2009 5:54 pm

We finally got the chance to get Sean’s hair cut for the first time! We took him to a local place called Cookie Cutters that is completely for children. We did the “Baby’s First Haircut Special” which included his cut, a photo, certificate and lock of hair.

He got to sit in a pretty cool lime green race car and had a movie playing for him right in front of him. He didn’t pay much attention to the movie but although he kept looking around like the curious toddler he is, he did exceptionally well. I am so proud of him. He didn’t cry or try to grab or anything.

My mom has been trying to talk us out of cutting his hair since we first mentioned it. She loves his long, messy and slightly curly hair, but I just couldn’t stand that my kid looked like a scrub with uber messy hair.

There is a full album of pictures on my MySpace, Facebook and on my website album. Check them out.

Also, a short video I threw together to remember the occasion.

Sean’s Peanuts Debut

A little something I put together in my spare time at work of my son running around the house with his blanket to the Peanuts Theme! I am one proud mommy, to say the least!

Out With the Old…

Posted by Carla | BlackBerry, Car, Clothing, Friends, Holiday, Sean, Website | Monday 22 December 2008 6:15 pm

2008 is closing to an end and it seems like it’s gone by so quickly. It seems like yesterday that Chris and I sold our house and trekked our way 700 miles with an infant to live in Cincinnati but it’s been over 8 months and 3 seasons later. Where has the time gone? Well, I can’t complain too much, most of 2008 has been great to us and I look forward to 2009.

In 2008, we started the year off with selling our house and moving to my hometown and both starting new, great jobs. I am thankful that we’re now close enough for my mother to watch Sean during the day while we work. Over the course of the twelve months, Sean has begun sitting up, crawling and now walking and saying a few words and so many more other milestones. I look forward to the milestones to come. By the time 2009 comes, he will be 13 months and 20 days. He’s growing so quickly.

I got my new car this year and also had a semi cause an accident that I was involved in, but my car is fine anyways. Gotta take the bad with the good it seems. Sold our house in 2008 and will be buying/building a new one in 2009. Reconnected with old friends and lost touch with some others. Went from the BlackBerry Pearl to the BlackBerry Curve and plan to head to the BlackBerry Bold in ‘09.

There’s one thing I know won’t change no matter what year it is and that’s being married to my wonderful husband. 2008 was a great year for Chris and I. We celebrated our one year anniversary, grew as a couple and a family and have realized more than ever how much in love we truly are. I love him no matter what and can’t wait to see what life is like in 2089 with him.

So, the plans for 2009 so far is to buy a new home. A permanent home. I am so done with moving and would like to never have it as an option unless we make it an option. I’d also like to do some traveling once we do get comfortable in the new year and new home. Ultimately, I want to take Sean to Florida to see his other side of the family and go to Disney World. I’d like to travel to other places I still haven’t had the chance to go to. I’ve been to many places but there are still that I have yet to see and would love to share that with my family.

My website has grown quite a bit in 2008. I get a ton of visitors and new subscribers all the time. The traffic to my site has increased immensely throughout the year and I plan for it to only get better. I’ll be adding some new things and maybe changing some current things. It’s always a work in progress.

Overall, the year has been great and I can only imagine that things will be getting better. I am enjoying the new chapter in our lives and can’t wait to see what happens in the next chapter.

Perhaps another child? We’ll see, I’m still up in the air on if I want to have other kids whether now or later or at all.

1 Year of Motherhood Under My Belt

Posted by Carla | Sean, Videos | Wednesday 12 November 2008 2:19 pm

Our son, Sean, turned 1 on November 10 of this year. I have to be cliche and say that I can’t believe he’s already a year old! I must say, the first year as been amazing and I look forward to the year before he turns two.

Sean shares a birthday with the US Marine Corps, Windows, Brittany Murphy and Sinbad to name a few. Ironically, he was born on a Marine Corps base and I am writing this blog entry on a PC running Windows XP and I had a dream with Sinbad in it the other night! So strange! I guess Brittany Murphy still isn’t important.

We threw a birthday party for Sean at my sister’s house and it turned out pretty well. We had great decorations, a wonderful cake, tasty appetizers and good company. At some point, I think Sean had an anxiety attack due to all the people and the rushing around. Poor kid! I took him upstairs for a bit to calm him down and give him the rest of his lunchtime bottle. He calmed down well and we were able to get the party rolling again.

Fall Festivities

Posted by Carla | Games, Holiday, Sean | Thursday 23 October 2008 11:14 am

Our first family tradition went off with a bang! We took Sean to Burger Farm (No, they do not grow hamburgers!) and he seemed to enjoy himself, so much in fact that he fell asleep on the hayride before he was able to pick out his pumpkin!

Sean saw his first puppet show, got a balloon animal (a mouse) from a clown, etc.

Above is my goofy painted pumpkin! These days I prefer to paint my pumpkins rather than carve them. I can be more creative and keep it cleaner and safer, which is good when you have a kid that will one day want to paint their own pumpkin. I am much more likely to give him a paintbrush rather than a knife!

I/We have yet to paint Sean’s pumpkin. I think I might actually have him do some brush strokes himself or even put some hand prints on it. We’ll have to see!

So, Sean, fell asleep on the 10 minute hayride to the pumpkin patch. Above is the result!

On another note. I have to explain an irritation that occurred exactly at midnight last night. I was playing World of Warcraft with my usual friends and were hitting up a dungeon pretty hardcore. We were about halfway through and exactly at the drop of midnight, my cable goes out along with my internet. I got friggin’ disconnected in the middle of a dungeon! WTF?!

I began wondering… “Did we pay the bill”? I run in to our bedroom, wake up Chris and ask him if we paid the bill! I had no way way of checking since my internet was down and I don’t have a number to call. He wasn’t sure. Hell, Chris wasn’t even awake when I asked him! He was sleep talking to me.

I frantically run around looking for our bill! It’s so hard to keep track of these things. We have a lot of bills and they’re always paid though. Finally, I found the bill. The due date reads, “October 27, 2008″. Ok? So, what happened? The only thing I was able to do was watch DVR’d episodes of Ghost Hunters, Jon & Kate +8 and Star Trek:TNG.

In an attempt to get back in the game, I try to hackzor someone else’s wifi connection. I thought I had succeeded. I was successful for about 20 seconds and then I got disconnected! FAIL!

So today, on my lunch break, I will have to call and figure out what the deal is! Grr!

Where have I been? Azeroth!

Posted by Carla | Games, Holiday, Parenting, Sean | Wednesday 15 October 2008 1:40 pm

This is my first blog entry for the month of October and we are already in the middle of the month. Where have I been? Well, I’ve been in a little place called Azeroth protecting the Alliance against the Horde in World of Warcraft.

I’m a seasoned veteran of two years and I’ve been dividing my WoW time between two servers, PvP and PvE. Both of which I am a Nightelf Rogue. I have a level 55 and a 21. I am very impartial to being a Rogue.

Excuse my absence but if you want to urge me to blog more, drop me a line of some sort.

Upcoming events. This weekend my husband, sister, brother-in-law, Andrey and myself are somewhat planning celebrating Halloween with a haunted bus ride. Should be interesting. I love Halloween and being scared is great.

The following day will be the start of our first annual family tradition. Chris, Sean and I will be heading to the local pumpkin patch to hand pick our first pumpkins as a family. I plan to do this every year to create everlasting memories for my son and any future children.

I don’t quite remember any family traditions from my childhood and I’d like to avoid that with my son. I want him to be able to remember all the good times throughout the years and have something to look forward to as the years go on.

Stay tuned for pictures and possibly video from our tradition.

It’s almost Halloween

Posted by Carla | Sean | Thursday 28 August 2008 9:35 am

Next to the obvious Christmas and Thanksgiving, Halloween is my favorite almost holiday! So, today when I got a catalog in the mail for first birthday themes and decorations, I went to the catalog’s website to view more and then saw that they also have baby costumes.

Here are a few that I am looking into.

If we go with this one, I would love to dress up as Dorothy and Chris can be the Tin Man or Scarecrow and my Chihuahua Pedro can be Toto. How cute would that be?

This one would be cute too and I just love monkeys!

This would have a special meaning because when I was giving birth to Sean, Shrek was on TV in the background. I told everyone I gave birth to Shrek!

This one is just cute! He is a little stinker too!

Sean’s Day At The Festival

Posted by Carla | Sean, Videos | Sunday 17 August 2008 10:37 pm

It seems like our plans for today have changed more than Britney Spears’ personalities day to day. Originally Chris, Sean and I were going to go to GenCon in Indianapolis, but that fell through. Then, we were going to take Sean to the coolest park nearby ever, but then that changed as well because I called my parents and they were going to a festival a little way away which ended up being in the “country” which by country people standards probably isn’t “country” at all, but to me, because I’m a city girl, it’s complete country. So anyways, we went to this festival and had a good time. Sean likes seeing new things and I enjoy it myself because I know that once we get home he will take one hella nap.

Here is a video of Sean’s day:
